I was sew lonely.

Last Wednesday, Kyler left immediately after work for the airport, and then he spent the night and next day in Georgia. In our evenings, Kyler and I usually watch Jeopardy after supper and then go on a walk. Without him around, I was sew lonely...

Sew I did what any lonely lady would do...

Break out my new sewing machine!

But I wasn't going to miss Jeopardy, sew I set up shop in the middle of the living room. And, by the way, I dominated the category "Finance and Business Terms".

One of my favorite bloggers, Edie, puts on a 12 Days of Homemade Christmas series of posts around November. And last year she featured one of my other favorite bloggers, Lindsay, from The Pleated Poppy. And that is when I found this adorable little project, and I imagined making it for two of the most adorable little boys I know. The only problem was, seniors in college don't have much free time in the weeks before Christmas. We had things called finals. Did I mention I'm done with them forever? Oh, and I didn't have a sewing machine.

Sew I blatantly told hinted around to Kyler that I wanted one, and he told me I didn't need one. But I gave him an analogy. Sewing machine:Kara::Playstation:Kyler. He didn't get me one for Christmas. Bummer. But his parents did!

And this was its inaugural project, besides sewing on scrap pieces.

I picked out fabric last Christmas at Hobby Lobby, but everything else I had on hand. Yes, I used a ruler because I had no sewing gauge.

Yes, I used a button from my collection of spare buttons.

Yes, I used the needles from my emergency sewing kit as pins. Oh dang it, there's at least a sewing tape measure.

A perfectly matching blue button. I don't really wear blue and can't find a single thing in my closet that is blue. I'm not sure where this one came from, but I won't be missing it.

The finished product. This little crayon pouch rolls up and stays together once you loop the elastic band around the button.

When Kyler and I went to Kroger to pick up groceries and a 16-pack of crayons, they were $2.99, but the 24-pack was only $0.25! Sew we picked up two packs. One for me, and one for toddlers!

Now I just have to wait for those cutie pies to get back from the beach sew I can give them their new gift. Shhh, don't spoil the surprise Dana!

What do you do when you're sew lonely? And projects you've been putting off since November? Any category sweeps on Jeopardy recently?
