Kitchen Upgrade

Last weekend while trolling the aisles of Target, I saw some new kitchen decor. OMG! How I love Target's decor section!  Usually I just peruse, but I couldn't pass up this yellow utensil holder. However, when I got around to taking a picture of it (don't mind the ugly black utensils that were ruined by our first apartment's dishwasher), there was a surprise waiting for me.

Kyler had made waffles the morning, and put the red spatula back in its place...dirty!

Valentine's Day Celebration!

Happy Monday! And happy late Valentine's Day.

On Tuesday, I had these beauties waiting for me at home.

I absolutely love tulips, and Kyler picked out two types with mixed colors and had these all arranged for me when I got home for work.

Our real Valentine's Day plans took place over the weekend. We made a quick trip to southern Indiana for a show at the Derby Dinner Playhouse.

It was a beautifully renovated eat-in theatre with seating all around the center stage where the performance took place. We sat at a table of six and had a nice dinner getting to know the other four sitting with us: a nice couple from Evansville and her parents celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary. It wasn't hard to befriend them once they found out the we were from IU, and they were huge Bobby Knight fans.

The show we saw was called Boeing, Boeing! and was about three flight attendants all travelling to see their fiance in Paris. Little did they know that they were all engaged to the same man. It was an absolute hilarious story as the man and his visiting friend try to juggle all three women under one roof. Kyler and I both agreed that it had been a while since we had laughed that hard!

Because we got to the theatre a little early, we took a little drive across the bridge...

...into Kentucky!

After a few extra minutes of sight-seeing around Louisville, we headed back to Indiana for our show.

It was definitely a wonderful Valentine's Day celebration!

Ice Storm

Remember that ice storm we had a few Saturdays ago? Well, before we realized that we had in fact had an ice storm that morning, we made plans to visit Kyle and Jamie in Indy.


So we had to break out our car to get there...

Decorating for Valentine's Day

I realize that I just posted about New Year's Eve, but now I'm moving on to our next holiday...no not Groundhog's Day.

I really want a fireplace mantle to decorate someday. For now though, I'll just keep decorating the shelves above our TV.

The last time I decorated for a season it was fall, so we were in desperate need of an update. And I'm pretty excited we have  a whole new look using only things we had on hand...and I'm really not sure why I keep using the term 'we'. Kyler was definitely no help during this project. :)

I bought the sparkly red scrapbook paper in December for a Christmas project, and the white felt is actually from a little project I did for a certain almost-2-year-old's birthday party. They're hot glued to piece of twine...which we bought earlier in the year for one reason or another. So far it's been used to measure out our new TV's size, wrap presents, and now this project.

Maybe my favorite part of this project is the frame to the far left. I pulled out a piece of red leftover fabric for the background, and cut out the heart and L from the new Fossil magazine.

It's a nice little sprucing up to our plane white walls. Which until a couple of weeks ago, these were the only decorations hanging in our apartment. At least now we have some wedding pictures hanging above the couch!
